We often work regularly with other suppliers and always enjoy providing the catering for events created by Chloe Astin of Queensbury Productions. Asked by her clients to organise a 21st birthday celebration for their son, Chloe planned a marquee party in their garden. Themed to create the atmosphere of an Alpine chalet, perfect for a November birthday, the marquee featured lots of red checked fabric, rustic wooden furniture, including naked wooden benches sourced by Avala, and ski paraphernalia.
Avala was asked to put together a menu that would be relatively informal and satisfy the appetites of 100 young people. Importantly, the clients were keen that the food would be substantial enough to help limit the effects of alcohol. Of the ideas we suggested, winter-warming lasagne was chosen as the perfect main dish.
Our team took care of everything
There wasn’t sufficient space to set up a kitchen tent next to the marquee, so we utilised the client’s conservatory. Whilst Chloe and her team decorated the marquee, we set up the tables and bar ready for the guests who began arriving from 7.30pm. Joining in with the party theme, our serving staff wore red aprons and woolly bobble hats and welcomed guests with drinks and canapés.
Dinner was served at 9pm and guests tucked into the lasagne, served with fresh, crispy salad and focaccia. Mini desserts were served from a themed rustic dessert station that added nicely to the overall visual impact. At 11.30pm a silent disco started. The Avala team staffed the bar and served a late night snack of posh hot dogs made with tasty Cumberland sausages until the party ended at 1am. With all the guests gone, the team stayed on to help with clearing up.
